Circuit Television (CCTV)
Visual surveillance is a very effective tool for combating risk. Cameras work
in ‘real time’ and linked to control mechanisms and recording
devices,
they reduce risk and manning requirements, whilst appreciably improving general
security.
Astec provide colour and monochrome systems for internal and external use
for a full range of environments and light levels.
Remotely controlled cameras pan tilt and zoom, manually displaying selected
events or general views.
Images are integrated with graphic maps that show locations and switch cameras
as an operator tracks through a site.
Digital Video
Digital video converts images into computer files giving CCTV systems the
high level of flexibility associated with IT systems.
Recordings are made to a database that can be sorted and images retrieved
at very high speed and related very closely to specific events.
Through the lens motion detection, provides pre-alarm images that show the
operator what happened prior to the alarm event.
This is a very powerful new technology that is revolutionising the way CCTV
is used. Ethernet networks,
Internet and WAN are utilised to allow viewing of images from multiple and
remote locations, revolutionising the flexibility of managing CCTV.
Remote Video Monitoring
Digital images are transmitted from CCTV sites to a Video Central Station
that remotely manages the CCTV, access control and alarm systems.
This provides reduced operating costs by reducing manned guarding costs. It
also manifestly improves the security of unmanned sites.
A speech link to the site allows operators to warn possible felons that they
are being observed, making the system pre-emptive and thereby reducing incidents.
